Ryan Thomas Grice
“Everything here is generalisations and hyperboles. Whether or not these men have no real concept of the world around them, or just simply choose to ignore it, seems not to matter. In their eyes, and in the eyes of those like them, endless wealth is a free pass from any wrong-doing.”
Born into an unfair age of wealthy individualism, Jensen must attempt to navigate through the debilitating disillusionment experienced by most young men, whilst balancing a morbid occupation, an awkward parental arrangement, and the temptations of liquor and love. A chance encounter with an artist brings slim hope of change in the form of a kindred spirit and a fresh set of eyes to view the world through. But what use is art if not viewed with an objective mind? What use is labor without thought? And how does one evaluate the existence of love? With both a weight on his shoulders and in his pockets he must mediate the great battle between the postmodern zeitgeist and his own mind.
Ryan Thomas Grice is an Australian author based in Brisbane. He writes and edits in both print and online for Moustache Magazine. He does his best not to take himself, and indeed anything, too seriously. He spends most of his time listening to folk records and stroking his Nietzschean tomes. Photosynthesis is his first novel.
