Pamela has been a psychologist for 50 years, counselling students and staff at the University of Technology, Sydney, working for an employee assistance company, and in private practice at Kingsford and Maroubra in Sydney.
She began writing this book in 1982 after results from her Smoking Cessation Program showed that self-hypnosis was about twice as effective as hetero-hypnosis for this complex habit.
While the book has directions on how to make your own self-hypnosis recordings, many people are reluctant to do so. This led Pamela, together with her partner of 15 years, Bill Peach, to begin the project of converting scripts from the book into CDs.
Bill became ill and recorded only four CDs before his voice became too weak. He made a fifth recording, for tumours, when he was very ill. Pamela completed the project, and there are now 49 recordings to choose from. You can also obtain printed individual self-hypnosis scripts to match the recordings..
